OREGON LAW:

AUTO INSURANCE CONSUMER RIGHTS

Do I have to use the repair shop my company recommends?

Oregon law prohibits an insurer from requiring you to use a certain repair shop. You have the right to have repairs done at a shop of your choice.

Is the insurance company responsible for the quality of repairs even if I choose the shop?

Insurance companies must work with the repair shops to make sure damaged vehicles are returned to pre-loss condition. Ultimately the shop is responsible for the repairs performed not the insurance companies. We provide a written warranty for all repairs performed.

Does the insurance company have to pay for new factory parts to fix my car?

Insurance companies can opt for aftermarket or recycled parts instead, this is a requirement that insurance companies make their preferred shops do before using OEM parts.  For your protection, Oregon law requires that aftermarket parts be certified equivalent to factory parts by an independent testing facility like CAPA Certification. It's still an Aftermarket part, with a sticker indicating it passed the minimum test requirements. we only use OEM parts and work with the insurance to make sure we put back your vehicle to the real meaning of Pre-Loss Condition.
